I like to print WordPerfect documents on both sides of the
paper. Not only does this save a lot of paper, but the
result also takes up less storage space.
When you begin a print job from either the List Files screen
or the Print screen's Multiple Pages option, WordPerfect 5.0
and later versions ask you which pages you want to print. If
you enter an 'E' or 'O' before the page number range,
WordPerfect prints only the even- or odd-numbered pages.
To create double-sided output, print the even pages with
your printer set to output face up (on a LaserJet Series II,
let down the output-tray selector, that is, the flap in the
back). Then place the same paper face down and top up in the
paper tray, set the printer to print face down (the default
setting in most printers), and print the odd pages on the
other side.
This technique requires you to specify a range of pages to
print, but luckily WordPerfect can take an open-ended range
for page numbers. For example, to print all the even pages
in a document, enter E1- at the Page(s) prompt.
My macro, which is named 2SIDE, prints the document in the
current window, even pages first, then odd pages. Now, any
time you want to use both sides of the paper, just load the
document you want to print, press <Alt>-<F10>, and enter
2SIDE at the Macro prompt.

Editor's Note: The macro 2SIDE.WPM is in the P5WPR directory
of your PowerBase *.* Volume 5 diskette. Besides coming in
very handy if you need to print double-sided documents, this
technique is useful if you're printing flyers that fold in
thirds; each of the six "pages" becomes a column on one of
the two sides.
One caveat if you're using letterhead or prepunched paper:
Remember that this macro prints the back side of each page
first (because page 1 faces forward). Also, if you have an
odd number of pages, remember to add a blank page to the
pile before you flip it over. Otherwise, your printer will
run out of paper before it prints the last, single-sided
page.
